Gareth Thomas makes everybody’s Christmas wishes come true in Wrexham

The Christmas countdown has already begun in Wrexham, the magic carpet is at the dry cleaners, the Genie ready to polish his lamp and Widow Twanky has picking out her prettiest petticoats in preparation, as Aladdin soars into the Stiwt Theatre for 37 fun-packed performances.  From Tuesday 11th December 2012 – Wednesday 2nd January 2013 Wrexham will be transformed into a land of sun, sea and a very special guest star as we celebrate that most wonderful time of year.

Stiwt Theatre and LHK Production Ltd are excited to announce that headlining this year’s magical pantomime is no other than Welsh rugby superstar and media personality Gareth Thomas in his very first pantomime role! Affectionately known as ‘Alfie’ throughout his sporting career Gareth is one of Wales most recognisable and celebrated sons with numerous sporting accolades.  Aladdin will mark the third year of working with LHK Productions and promises to be even more spectacular than the last two pantomimes and putting pantomime at the heart of family tradition this Christmas, promising an entertaining show at great value for money.

Stiwt Theatre Manager Rebecca Griffiths said “I’m so excited to have Gareth starring in Aladdin entertaining our local families this Christmas. Gareth is a huge personality, a great Welsh icon, he has an amazing sporting career with a worldwide following.  I watched Gareth in Celebrity Big Brother and it shows he commits 100% in to anything he gets involved with! His presence on stage as the Genie of the Lamp is going to be epic.”

Already a world class player and an inspirational captain Gareth became an overnight media sensation following his appearance on Celebrity Big Brother.

Genie of the Lamp Gareth Thomas said “I am never one to back away from a challenge and try something new, so when I was offered this opportunity I thought it was too good to turn down. There is a great team behind the production who are all so enthusiastic about putting on a great show, and I can’t wait to get back up to Wrexham at Christmas and have some fun. Having played rugby there for two years it will also be a good opportunity to catch up with old friends in the area. I hope we can encourage as many people as possible to get behind it and come and see me in costume!”

Aladdin is a firm family favourite with enough magic, sparkle and festive fun to keep everyone happy! With striking sets, a superstar Genie, sparkling costumes and a laugh a minute script that will have you rolling in the aisles.

Will Aladdin spoil the evil Abanazer’s plan to rule the world? Will he find his girl? Will everyone’s dreams come true?
