Liverpool Loves Festival
ALL YOU NEED IS LIVERPOOL LOVES!
THE “PEOPLE’S FESTIVAL” ANNOUNCES ITS RETURN FOR 2016
Following the unprecedented success of the inaugural Liverpool Loves festival last year, organisers Orb CIC have announced that it will be even bigger and better in 2016!
Liverpool Loves celebrates and promotes all the fantastic things that Liverpool has to offer. The first ever event was a resounding success; hailed one of the stand-out moments of 2015 with over 27,000 people attending across the weekend.
And now, Josh Boyd from Orb CIC is excited to announce that the feel-good festival will return to The Pier Head from August 4-6.
All You Need is Liverpool Loves! Is the message behind this year’s event which will once again focus on the festival’s fab four core themes: business, culture and food and wellbeing.
The team behind Liverpool-based social enterprise, Orb CIC has a strong proven track record in staging major city events and festivals and are pulling out all the stops to ensure that this year’s event is even better than the last.
Event organiser, Josh Boyd, said: “The team at Orb CIC are all really excited to announce our dates for this summer. We’re taking over the Pier Head during the first week in August again and have some fantastic plans for making it even bigger and better this year.
“Dubbed ‘The People’s Festival’, it really did live up to that title in 2015; with a dynamic programme offering something for everyone of all ages and interests – it was a great family day-out for over 27,000 people.
“There were lots of exciting cultural activity, a brilliant music programme across three stages, a kids programme created for family audiences and loads of independent street food traders and local bars; as well as a series of activities created to show people how to lead happy and healthy lives and have fun while you’re doing it.
“The format for the weekend won’t change too much – but we feel that it offered a unique, colourful festival-vibe in the heart of the city centre and that’s something we’re definitely going to build on this summer. It certainly was our ‘own mini-Glastonbury at the waterfront’!”
Thursday will be more focused on business with an event for local entrepreneurs, Friday will offer a stand-alone event showcasing why Liverpool Loves Nightlife and the Saturday is billed as ‘festival day’ – which is the main 12-hour event that serves as an exciting finale to this year’s programme.
Liverpool Loves starts on Thursday 4th August with Liverpool Loves Business, it continues on Friday 5th August with Liverpool Loves Nightlife, culminating in Liverpool Loves Festival Day on Saturday 6th August.
Free-to-attend and open to all, the highlight of the weekend will be a fun-packed family friendly event with something on offer for everyone. A diverse, home-grown music programme is supported by a host of cultural and pop-up performances providing a flavour of Liverpool’s local and international communities. Street theatre, African drummers, Brazilian dancers, Arab and Asian arts will appear alongside art installations and more – creating a sensational feast for the eyes and ears. A huge finale is planned for sunset on the main stage – watch this space.
And as well as lots of activities and events for young people and families with children, there will also be over 30 local independent food and drink stalls and bars. As part of the wellbeing programme; there will be reiki taster sessions, healthy eating businesses, children’s yoga, Morning Gloryville and much more.
Liverpool Loves wants to hear from Liverpool businesses, producers, suppliers and performers who would like to get involved.
Josh added: “We’ve received so much positive feedback from partners, contributors and the generous public after last year; and I can’t thank everybody enough for making this festival their own. You have all helped us to make a positive impact on the local economy and to local people – so we’re calling out for support from businesses that will value the opportunity to be involved in some way in 2016. We need you to help us achieve these outcomes for local communities and for this great city once again.
“We also want to hear from local bars and restaurants, arts and culture groups, unsigned talent the list goes on – it’s an open door, so come and chat about how we might get you involved. Here’s to 2016, made with nothing but love!”
