SEPTEMBER 2011 COMEDY UPDATE

A Scintillating September line-up at Laughterhouse Comedy!

This September, Laughterhouse Comedy continues with a vengeance with a scintillating line-up of the crème-de-la crème of international comedian circuit at two of Liverpool finest comedy venues.

Voted in the top 5 comedy venues to visit in The Independent last weekend, Laughterhouse is the most consistent top quality comedy nights in the region. This month alone Laughterhouse will host 19 comedy nights at two highly praised venues.

Getting you back into the most popular season of comedy are regular MCs Ste Porter, Chris Cairns the brilliant Neil Fitzmaurice (The Office, Phoenix Nights and Peepshow) who will hold the nights together with their unique MC style, they will introduce a whole host of top comedians.

Starting with Andrew Lawrence, gaining international recognition playing all the top comedy festivals to mass critical acclaim and building a base of discerning fans addicted to the bleakly dark comic world he creates.  Andrew has appeared on ‘Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow’ as well as ‘Dave’s One Night Stand’ and is currently enjoying a successful run across the UK with his ‘Best Kept Secret in Comedy Tour’.

Steve Hughes with his own style of heave metal comedy is chain smoking, beer swilling, plain talking Australian – Steve is comfortable operating in the realms of such familiar subjects as drugs, sex, and pornos but his real passion is the topical, political and intellectual – delivered in a frequently provocative manner.  His eclectic mix of quirky anecdotes and witty one-liners has earned him legions of fans across the UK, as well as recent performances on BBC2’s “The Live Floor Show,” Paramount’s “The Comedy Store” and Comedy Central’s “The World Stands Up!”.

A continuous sell-out at Laughterhouse Tom Stade Tom is a stand-up comedian from the wilds of suburban Canada, Co-star and co-writer of Frankie Boyle’s Tramadol Nights (Ch4), and as seen on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow (BBC One), One Night Stand (Dave) & Stand-Up For The Week (Ch4).  Don’t miss hugely talented émigré Tom Stade as he wows audiences around the country His magnetic stage presence, irrepressible charm and first-class story-telling have established him as one of the most sought after performers on the UK and international circuit.

The final headliner hitting the Laughterhouse stage is Rob Rouse, Rob got his first break in comedy by winning the ‘So You Think You’re Funny? ‘new act competition in 1998. As well as stand-up, he also performed as part of the Big And Daft trio with Ian Boldsworth and Jon Williams from 1997 to 2002, taking three shows to the Edinburgh Fringe.

His TV credits include presenting the first series of ‘The Friday Night Project’ on Channel 4, the C4 sketch show Spoons, and playing Mike in the first series of he BBC3 sitcom Grown Ups. Rob is headlining the Comedy Network for a third season this year, performing at Universities throughout the British Isles as well as touring Europe with Phil Kay.

Hosted at the famous Slaughterhouse on Fenwick Street and The Slug and Lettuce on North John Street Septembers comedy nights include a string of highlights and MCs to provide jokes-a-plenty.
